Utah Sports Action is pleased to announce the athletes of the week from October 11th – 17th. Again this week there were plenty of outstanding performances from every sport. The three that stood out the most were Adam Boelter from West Jordan, Tannon Pedersen from Lone Peak and Tanner Hinds from Davis.

Once again the senior for Lone Peak came through with a big game and it just so happened came against an undefeated Pleasant Grove team. Pedersen passed for 302 yards completing 82% of his passes. He finished with 3 touchdown passes and 1 rushing touchdown. For the season Pedersen has passed for over 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns. Tannon is a true quarterback but also has speed when he scrambles outside the pocket. His ability to lead a team has been noticed by some schools of interest such as Boise State, BYU, California, Southern Utah, Utah and Utah State. Lone Peak now with a record of 7-2 plays next week at Copper Hills.
Hinds, has been big all year for Davis and on Friday as Davis beat Fremont he went off again. He had 29 rushes for 241 yards and 4 touchdowns and an average of 8.3 yards a carry. On the season Hinds has accumulated 1,219 yards in 8 games 152.4 yards per. game 7.17 yards a carry to go along with 17 touchdowns. Those are some amazing stats and that’s why schools like Boise State, BYU, Colorado, Northern Arizona, Purdue, Stanford and Utah are taking a close look at Hinds. Davis now 6-2 on the season faces Roy next week at home.
Once again Adam nabs the Athlete of the week honors. Not only did he complete 22 of 33 passes for 476 yards but tied a state record dating back to 1919 with ten touchdowns 7 passing and 3 rushing. No, that is not a misprint and yes he is only a junior. On the season he has completed 64% of his passes going 166 of 259. He has 2,185 yards passing 312 yards per. game and 22 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 355 yards and 12 touchdowns. West Jordan now stands with a record of 6-3 up next at home against Kearns Oct. 22. Congratulations to all three athletes on such outstanding performances.
