Athletes of the Week - 10/31/09
Utah Sports Action is pleased to announce the Athletes of the Week from October 25th – 31st. This week three athletes stood out the most. Those three are Seni Fauonuku and Harvey Langi from Bingham and Alex Kuresa from Mountain Crest.
The 6 foot 285 pound Junior was a beast Saturday against Jordan. Not only did he have 3 unassisted and 10 assisted sacks to help his team in the win but he leads the team with 58 tackles and remember he is only a junior. If Fauonuku keeps playing like this the rest of this year and all of next year he will have some major schools looking at him.
Bingham (10-1) plays at home against Riverton (5-4) Friday November 6th at 4:00.
It seemed like Langi was all over the field Saturday against Jordan. He had 21 carries for 159 yards and 4 touchdowns. Technically he should have had 5 touchdowns but was called out at the 1 yard line after he dove in. You can see the play in our highlights and photo’s so we will leave that up to you to decide if he was in or not.
On the season Langi has carried the ball 158 times for 1,159 yards 7.3 yards a carry and 18 touchdowns. He also has 253 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns. If you haven’t seen him play you are missing out on an incredible athlete.
The junior quarterback has been incredible all season long and on Friday he didn’t let up against Salem Hills. He completed 11 of 18 passes for 327 yards and five touchdown passes and rushed for one score all in the first half. It’s not often you see a junior put up numbers like that all in 2 quarters.
On the season he has completed 69.3% of his passes 160-231 for 2,764 yards and 32 touchdowns. He also has rushed for 336 yards and 4 touchdowns. Mountain Crest (9-1) plays at Highland (8-3) Friday Nov. 6th at 3:30.
