Athletes of the Week 12-12-09

Utah Sports Action is pleased to announce the athletes of the week from December 7th through the 12th.

Nick Emery, Fr., Lone Peak Emery, had a great week in hoops not only did he have 43 points and six 3 pointers in two games combined, but he hit a game winner against Lehi. For those of you who don't know who this kid is now you will. Keep in mind when reading this that he is only a freshmen and if you go to a Lone Peak game the crowd will remind you. I can honestly say that I have never seen a freshmen play with so much confidence as Emery. He can beat you off the dribble and get to the basket and he can stun his defender and rise up with a quick jumper. I was mostly impressed with the way he can shoot off the dribble and how fast he releases his shot.

After three games Emery has 62 points and nine 3-pointers he is averaging 20.67 points per. game and three 3-pointers a game. Lone Peak now stands with a record of 3-0 they will be on the road next at Juan Diego Friday the 18th at 7:00.

Makenzie Morrison, Sr., Alta Morrison, is having a great season so far in helping Alta stay undefeated. On December 9th against Cottonwood she went off for 25 points. Morrison is so dominant that most teams will double team her but she still finds away to score and help her team win.

On the season Morrison is averaging 20.8 points per. game. Alta 5-0 will be on the road against a 4-1 Bingham team on Decemeber 15th at 7:00.
