Athletes of the week

Utah Sports Action is pleased to announce the athletes of the week from February 22nd through the 27th.

Jennifer Hazlett, Sr., Syracuse The Titan’s Senior leader averaged 21.5 points, nearly double-digits in rebounds, and contributed suffocating defense that led five key steals in the Titans’ 5A championship win over Pleasant Grove.

On the season, Hazlett averaged 17.17 points on way to earning herself a scholarship to play basketball at Army. In her three seasons at Syracuse, Hazlett led the Titans to the semifinals in her Junior year and capped off her high school career with a 25-0 record, 5A tournament MVP honors, and a state championship.

Lexi Eaton, Jr., Springville Lexi Eaton had a week that athletes dream of… Averaging 30 pints, eight rebounds, and 3.75 steals, Eaton also hit the game-winning shot against Snow canyon to put the Red Devils into the 4A championship. Springville would then take the 4A crown against a pesky Timpanogos team.

On the season, Eaton averaged 25.13 points while also being one of the best defenders in the state. Springville finished the 2009-10 season by going 23-0.

Congratulations to both Jennifer Hazlett and Lexi Eaton for their honor, as well as their championship victories. Good luck at the NCAA level.
