Utah Sports Action is pleased to announce the athletes of the week from December 21st-26th.
Tyrell Corbin, Jr., West
Corbin, has been dominant all year for West. He is the type of player that can create for himself or set up a teammate at will. Defenders have such a hard time guarding him because of his quick first step and if you can stop his first step he has an amazing crossover that can make any defender buckle. On December 22nd against East Corbin scored 29 points and had 2 3-pointers. Most of his points came by going around defenders and finishing at the basket. Even with his ability to score at the rim he has a great outside jumper that makes his game even more fun to watch.
On the season Corbin is averaging 21.50 points per. game. Corbin is doing everything right for West to win. The scary part of it all is I don't think we have seen the best of Corbin just yet.
Erica Martinez, Sr., Judge Memorial
Martinez, is the go-to player for the undefeated Judge team. She has the ability to beat you off the dribble or she can rise up and hit a 3-pointer whenever she wants. She has good handles with both her left and right hand and a great jumper off the dribble.
On the season Martinez is averaging 25 points and 3.62 3-pointers per. game. If she keeps going at this pace she will be the 3-A MVP and Judge will be the 3-A champions.
Congratulations to both Erica Martinez and Tyrell Corbin on a great week in hoops. We will be sure to keep a close eye on the both of you.
