Athletes of the week. Jan. 11th-16th

Utah Sports Action is pleased to announce the Athletes of the week from January 11th through the 16th.

Ben Clifford, SR., Bingham The 6-8 center for Bingham has been huge all season long. Against Copperhills last friday Clifford once again showed off his offensive abilities when he went off for 26 points in the win for Bingham. Anyone who has watched him play knows he's a good offensive player that can board, score and run the floor. But the main reason why Bingham is 12-1 is the defense down low starting with Clifford. Opposing teams have to adjust their shots when they go to the basket if they don't they usually get blocked.

On the season Clifford has scored 200 points (15.38 per. game) in 13 games. For his career he has scored 770 points in 86 games for a 8.95 average. Bingham 12-1 will face 9-4 West Jordan Friday Jan. 22nd @ 7:00.

Saane Lo'amanu, SR., Taylorsville Lo'amanu, has been the go-to player for Taylorsville all season. Last week Taylorsville beat Copperhills and West Jordan while Lo'amanu scored 18 and 17 points respectively. Opposing teams have such a hard time guarding Lo'amanu since she can beat you off the dribble if you play her close and if you leave her any room she can hit the outside jumper as she has shown all year nailing 14 3-pointers.

On the season Lo'amanu has scored 198 points (15.23 per game) and 14 3-pointers. For her career she has scored 440 points in 35 games for a 12.57 average. Taylorsville 10-3 will face Kearns Thursday the 21st at 7:00.
