Week 6 Athletes of the Week
Utah Sports Action is pleased to announce week 6 athletes of the week. We decided on three athletes that stood out the most from this week even though there were plenty of other great performances.
Hart, for the second time this year is one of our three athletes of the week. All he does is put up off the chart stats week in and week out. On Friday he went 23-35 for 340 yards and five touchdown passes. Hart also ran the ball 11 times for 63 yards and a touchdown as Jordan beat Hillcrest 56-3.
So far this season he has completed 158 of 246 passes 64%. He also leads the state with passing touchdowns (26) passing yards (2,385) yards per. game (397.5) and touchdowns per. game (4.33) He is on pace this year to crush Utah High School football records as a Quarterback. Some colleges interested in Alex Hart include Colorado, Colorado State, Idaho State, Utah State and Wyoming by scout.com. I wouldn’t be surprised if this list doubles after the season.
Jensen, had his first 16 passes completed and went 30 of 35 for 323 yards and five touchdowns. Crosby led his team to victory over Skyline 43-28 they now are 4-2 on the season. Next week they play at West 3-3.
For the season Jensen has completed 59% of his passes 116 of 195. He has 1,406 passing yards 234.3 yards per. game and 18 touchdowns. Schools of interest include BYU, Southern Utah, UNLV and Utah State by scout.com. If he keeps it up there will be more schools knocking at his door.
Bate, threw for 5 touchdowns completed 20 of 30 passes and 307 yards to help his team beat Uintah 38 to 17. That is an outstanding game for the Red Devils sophomore quarterback. Springville now stands with a record of 5 and 1. They play next at Maple Mountain 0-5 on Oct. 2nd.
If Bate keeps improving on his game by the time he is a senior he will be highly recruited. Coach Mitchell is just the guy who can help him improve having played at the University of Utah and was selected in the 4th round of the 1990 draft by the Miami Dolphins. He played 11 seasons in the NFL with Miami, Detroit, Baltimore and Cincinnati. Any athlete let alone quarterback would love to have Scott Mitchell as a mentor and Bate can only improve his game with Coach Mitchell. We will be sure to keep an out on Steve Bate and the Springville Red Devils.
Congratulations to all three athletes on such outstanding performances and a win for their team.
