Darts continue to dominate Region One

The Davis Darts remain undefeated after a comeback against the Northridge Knights on Friday night. The first big plays of the game came when Davis' Landon Horne threw a huge pass to Gavin Fowler who then charged into the end zone for a touchdown. On the ensuing return, the Knights offense drove down field until Travis Harper was able to connect with Colton Hill who ran the ball into the end zone; evening the score 7-7 with five minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Several hand offs to Davis' Tanner Hinds yielded a few yards, but the Darts were forced to punt after an intentional grounding penalty pushed them back close to the 50 yard line on fourth down. On the return, the Knights also struggled to gain significant yardage and were plagued by penalties. Harper was sacked by Kaden Hoskins. He managed to find Hill on a fourth down play that netted 11 yards and got the ball to Jordan Lee who rushed it to the Darts 41 yard line.

On the Knights next offensive drive, a couple of big plays by Chad Colby and Jordan Lee brought the ball to the one yard line where Harper was able to sneak it in for a touchdown. The Knights took the lead 7-14 with 3:48 remaining in the first half.

After another failed drive by the Darts offense, the Knights battled their way down the field and kicked a 30 yard field goal widening the lead 7 – 17.

The teams fought back and forth into the second half of the game with only short gains being made by both teams. A break came for Davis when Tanner Hinds broke several tackles and ran the ball in from the five yard line; shrinking the Knights lead.

The Knights return drive brought the ball to the 30 yard line, but a field goal attempt came up short and Davis took over again.

In the fourth quarter, a punt fake by Northridge took the ball deep inside Davis territory. Harper tossed the ball about 30 yards to Hill, but the Knights were ultimately pushed back by the Darts defense. In the final touchdown of the game Tanner Hinds swung wide from the 15 yard line and rushed through the Knights defense bringing the final score to 21 – 17.

The Darts next game is at home against the Viewmont Vikings (3-3 overall). The Knights are headed to Plain City to face the Fremont Silver Wolves (2-3 overall).
