Bingham 84 Bountiful 48 (12/4):
Fresh off of their 5A football championship the Bingham Miners are again the team to beat in another sport. The 2009-10 basketball season has gotten under way and the Miners are loaded from top to bottom as they are led by Utah State-bound power forward, Ben Clifford.
Taking on the Bountiful Braves last Friday, Clifford had a solid game with 10 points and 10 rebounds. What doesn't show in the box score is all the attention that Clifford drew throughout the contest that led to open looks and big nights from Nate Girsberger and Logan Parker as they finished with 21 and 16 points for Bingham respectively. Bountiful had no answer for Bingham's unconscious shooting.
Game ball goes to: Bingham's Nate Girsberger. The deadly shooter connected on seven three-point attempts as Bountiful kept leaving him with open looks throughout the game.
Davis 59 Alta 52 (12/1):
The Davis Darts are another team that looks primed for major success not only on the football field but the basketball court as well. The Darts took to the court last Tuesday night against the Alta Hawks with a stellar effort at the free-throw line as a team connecting on 33 of 43 free-throws but the Darts' ball handling was another story. The Alta Hawks had struggled to a mere 19 points in the first three periods of the game and before they turned to a stiffling full-court defense that wrecked havoc for Davis and nearly brought the Hawks back in the game.
Game ball goes to: Alta's Kyle Davis. Davis' team might not have won the game but he was easily the most dominant player on the court going for 17 points, eight rebounds, and three steals in the loss.
