Sky View 65 Mountain View 36 (12/5):
The beginning of the 2009-10 season has proven to be a difficult one for the Mountain View Bruins. Facing tough competition in Brighton, American Fork, and Sky View, the Bruins now sit at 1-3 after their blowout loss to this year's 4A favorite, the Sky View Bobcats.
The Bruins struggled their way to four points in the first period of play as the Bobcats defense employed a full court press that left the young Bruins team confused and struggling to find answers. Nicole Hansen and Amy Andrus led the way for the Bobcats in the game scoring 19 and 12 points respectively and Sky View used a 16 to 0 run in the third period to run away from the defending 4A champs. Shayann Halalilo led Mountain View on the night with 12 points.
Game ball goes to: Nicole Hansen. Hansen scored a team high 19 points for the Bobcats while also knocking three three-point attempts on the night.
Bountiful 38 West 34 (12/3):
(2-1) Bountiful got more than they wanted from the (0-4) West Panters as they had to fight to hold onto their lead in the final minutes of their contest. A pair of runs at the start and the end of the game gave the Panthers an opportunity to pull off an upset in the closing seconds against the Braves as the Panthers scored 14 consecutive points. Finding themselves up by only one point with 30 seconds remaining the Braves defense came through and prevailed with a four point victory. Heather Stucki was the point leader on the night for Bountiful scoring 12 and connecting on two three-point attempts.
Game ball goes to: Bountiful's Taylor Boroson. Scoring only three points on the night, Boroson came through when the Braves needed her the most. The Panthers were down by one in the final minute and had the ball when Boroson stole the inbounds pass to preserve the Braves' victory.
