Facing a young and talented team - in Lone Peak - did little to faze the Juan Diego Soaring Eagles on Friday night. However, it took only one period for the talented Knights to pull out a victory.

Few teams are as fortunate as Lone Peak. Most high school teams when they lose a good portion of the players from the year before they are faced with the unfortunate task of “rebuilding”. The 2009-10 Knights have simply, “re-loaded”.

For three of the four periods on Friday it was anybody’s contest. The game was tied at seven after the first and then Lone Peak took a one point lead to the locker room at the half.

The Knights came out for the second half with fire in their eyes and a determined defense as Juan Diego struggled their way to three points for the entire third period.

Lone Peak was led on the night by senior Tannon Pedersen who dropped in 15 points while connecting on two three-pointers. Talented freshman, Nick Emery, continued his strong start to the season with 10.

Clinging to a nine point lead as the fourth period started the Knights extended it to 10 as the Soaring Eagles regained their form but it was not enough against a Lone Peak squad that plays well beyond their years as they pulled away with a 41 to 31 victory over the pesky Eagles.
