After losing two of their first three games of the season, the West High School boys' basketball team looked like a young team with a lot of question marks. Throughout the last 17 games, the Panthers have had all the answers.

The Murray Spartans have had a frustrating year as they sit near the .500 mark. Possessing potent three-point shooters then going cold beyond the arc, while also finding themselves in numerous games just to let it slip away in the deciding minutes.

The Panthers and Spartans met on Tuesday night for West's "senior night" in an intriguing battle of centers, West's Gatete Djuma (9.15 ppg) vs. Murray's David Collete (17.11 ppg), as they provided a glimpse at two of Utah's class of 2011 top big men... but the story of the game - same as it has been all season for the Panthers - was the 5A leading scorer, Tyrell Corbin.

Corbin, averaging 20.3 ppg, led all scorers on the night with 19 points as Murray's guards struggled to match Corbin's athleticism. When he wasn't scoring, Corbin and Thomas Bullock were busy finding Djuma (10 points) and Junior Vea (12 points) for easy buckets.

Although Collette (13 points) outscored Djuma on the night, Djuma's impact on the game and West's season has been noticeable since he joined the team on December 15. Providing the Panthers with an inside presence that has made teams respect the paint while also fearing the shooting ability of Corbin and senior, Jordan Tanner, the Panthers now sit on a 17 game winning streak after dismantling the Murray Spartans 64 to 36. West is prime for another deep run into the state tournament.
