The Granger Lancers (5-15) traveled to Murray on Friday night to take on the the Spartans (9-11) in a battle of two teams that have had their share of struggles on the season.
Led by David Collette and Cade Bullough - 20 and 15 points respectively - the Spartans jumped to an early lead and led 29 to 15 at halftime. Collette filled up the stat sheet once again despite Granger's constant double team and Bullough and Mitch Tate (9 points) were beneficiaries of the Lancers' game plan, unfortunately for the Spartans, all others struggled to score.
As the second half began, Granger's play began to pick up. Led by Andrew Vaovasa and Deng Deng - 15 and 13 points respectively - the Lancer's mounted a comeback and in the process, stalled Murray's offense as they sent them to the foul line.
The Spartans finished the game going 12-26 on free throws allowing the Lancers to pull ahead in the deciding fourth period. Although the Lancer only made one more free throw attempt than Murray, it was their team-wide scoring that put the Lancers over the top as Cody Thorup and Isaih Tademy also finished in double figures.
The Granger Lancers overcame Murray's hot start to steal the victory on the Spartans' homecourt, 55 to 52.
