Chase Hansen must sit out after transferring to Lone Peak

Ex-American Fork QB Chase Hansen, was penalized by the Utah High School Activities Association for transferring to Lone Peak High.

UHSAA voted 2-1 in favor of penalizing Hansen and must now sit out for one year. Hansen was a star QB as a Sophomore for the American Fork Cavemen. Chases father Brian Hansen pleaded his case to the committee, that the family had run into financial troubles and that had been the reason for the transfer. Also to attend Lone Peak in Alpine,UT where the family lives.

American Fork, argued that the transfer was motivated by football and the dissatisfaction of what type of offense that would be run by new head football coach Aaron Behm.

Brian Hansen expressed concerns that the type of offense coach Behm would be running could expose his son's shoulder to potential injury. Chases talent is already being recognized by the next level. Offers from Utah and BYU are on the table and more are sure to follow.

According to UHSAA rules, if a student’s transfer is found to be motivated by athletics, he or she will lose a year of athletic eligibility. Should high school sports athletes be governed to the same standards as college and professional athletes?.

Chase although having to sit out is already enrolled at Lone Peak. This is a heated topic, I doubt we have seen the last of.
